New Strip
I finished another strip of my Funky Rug. I don't have any color pattern going partly because it looks cool that way, and partly because I just add new t-shirts as I get them. My roommate just donated 2 old t-shirts she didn't wear anymore, which is exciting. I walked on the two rows to test out its rug-ability and it was actually quite soft and cushy to stand on. I'm really enjoying this project because it is so different. I want to get some more wild t-shirt colors because we really need some serious color in our apartment (its kinda dark and drab). I have no idea how many rows I'm going to do, I'm just going to decide as I go along. I do want it to be fairly large though. If anyone has some old t-shirts they want to donate to my Funky Rug project, let me know (just no white t-shirts). I have been having all kinds of health problems lately, which is really annoying. So I'm more worried about keeping up with school than knitting, understandably. But when I do find time to knit, it has been really relaxing and therapeutic. Its a great way to get my mind off the stressful things. -Knit Master H
Funky Rug project
And for my most recent project. I am taking old t-shirts and cutting them into a ball of t-shirt yarn and using it to knit this rug. I'm not using any planned color sequence, just whatever I feel like using next. Our apartment is kinda bland and I have been working on brightening it up lately. I have been asking everyone I know for any old t-shirts that aren't white (they would get dirty looking too quickly). Cyndi and I went to garage sales on Saturday to get some very cheap old t-shirts, so I have a pretty good supply right now. I'm using size 17 needles to knit this up. It actually takes roughly the same amount of time to cut the t-shirt as it does to knit it. -Heather
Check out this cute purse I got at a garage sale Saturday. It's so big, I can totally fit more than one knitting project inside and still zip it up! It looks to me like it was made in the 60's, but I'm not sure.
Things I love
Knitting blog that I love: http://domesticaffair.blogspot.com/ You have to check it out. Jae has the cutest site, and I love that she includes recipes. Being a Nutritional Sciences major of course I am obsessed with yummy food. She gives the link to the site: http://exlibrisanonymous.com/ Which you also must check out. They have the cutest journals. And I believe that I will have to buy one (or two!). I think they'd be great to sketch out knitting plans, or just to journal in. I love the idea of using book covers to make journals.
I plan on buying another thrift store sweater to unravel later this week! I want something with yarn around the same size as the yellow. My grandma requested a lap sized afgan (she specified for tv watching), and I think that sounds like a fun project. More pictures will come. HEATHER
