I'm ENGAGED!

Okay so I haven't been including any crafty wonderful-ness lately. But good news: My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years proposed to me on New Year's Eve at midnight (afterward crying picture above). I'm so excited! Plus I have that whole job thing going on now, so I have a lot less time on my hands. I have a pretty long commute to work so I haven't been feeling computer-y lately. I have been feeling crafty though.
Projects to come...

Oh by the way, I'm an author now...

Okay, well sorta. I have a project in a new booklet coming out in May called Crafty Hair Accessories. Here's the cover of it.

Its being published by an indie publisher and its going to have 10 different projects in it. My project is "Funky Felted Hair Flowers" and let me tell you, its pretty freakin' sweet. It's available to preorder right now for half the price $5, but will be available for $10 this May. Look in the upper right corner of the cover, yeah that's my hair flower. To see the bio page with all the authors from the book go to http://craftentrepreneur.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=6&Itemid=9 . To buy this booklet or just check it out go to http://www.craftentrepreneur.com/stylishcrafts/shop/

I'm excited about this booklet release; I may participate in another project book like this.

Woo-freakin-hoo ya'll

I've gotten a big chunk of my crazy afghan sewn together and I took some time to take pictures today. There are 44 squares right now. I still plan on adding alot more but its fun to see real progress.
As you can see it is very bright, excellent! I have lots of ends to weave in, which I have started. I'm not sure how many more squares need to be added, I do think I'm going to knit the edge pieces so that they lay flat.

Here's a fun close-up =>

Afghan update

Its spring break right now, and I'm taking this time to work on my afghan and put lots of things in my etsy shop! Oh yeah and relax. Here's a picture of some of the squares sewn together. I've knitted about 40 squares so far, but I still need to make a ton more!

Okay so I've actually sewn alot more together than pictured above, I just need to take a newer picture. Its looking pretty bright and tacky, oh yes. This picture makes it look kinda ghetto, but I promise it is pretty freakin sweet.

Sara of www.sararae.etsy.com made me a banner for my shop recently, which I love. To see my new banner you need to visit my shop at www.bourgeoisboutique.etsy.com . I'm pretty excited about it because I think it classes up my shop, haha. Sara was totally awesome and made it just to my specifications. This may not seem like a big deal to some but I just couldn't figure out how to make my own.

Freakin Hilarious Websites!!

My stepdad sent me an email with this article: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/3672255.html READ IT! This is so something I would take part in because, well, I'm a spaz and I enjoy doing really random things. I'm thinkging about seeing who I can get together to do this locally, because it'd be entertaining. Or you can just check out www.knittaplease.com

Oh! And I stumbled upon another hilarious blog: http://youknitwhat.blogspot.com Check this out too!
They post a picture of the ugliest, most random and pointless thing you can knit and hilarity ensues, I promise.

Okay have fun with that. I will probably post some pictures of my tacky afghan progress soon.

Afghan of looooovvvvveeee

I have finally decided to make an afghan. I've thought about it for a long time but haven't had the patience, or a good plan. I'm knitting lots of random brightly colored squares using acrylic yarn I have aquired from my nice family (they support my addiction). I am going to sew them together with black chenille, which will look very nice and rather classy.

And I'm using this as a chance to practice different knitting patterns and skills. I tried for the first time using a different colored yarn in the middle of my knitting. Usually, I only do stripes and cut off each color as I go.

Here are two of my favorite squares so far, the blue and white H, and the yellow with criss-cross lines. They are pretty simple but I've never done anything like that before so I'm excited. I'm also planning on making one with a heart, and one with a 'C'. Then, magically, in the center of the afghan it will have "H heart C". Yes, it will be amazingly cheesy!
